Gratian, Antioch This type is often not distinguished properly from type 16, which has the same
legend and
general appearance, but head and globe right. For
example, RIC
Her 16 says "Roma's head right, foot on prow" which makes it
Constantinopolis as type 16. Also, RIC
Con 56a (page 227) says "? [sic] Constantinopolis, seated facing, head
l., holding globe and partly seen spear, r. leg bare." Since the leg
apparently does not rest on a prow, I would attribute that as Roma and
therefore Type 15 (this type), not Type 16 which has Constantinopolis
seated, head and globe right.
